15 Celebrities Who Slayed the Hair Game in 2015

MTV

MTV

How would you know what do you with your hair if celebs weren’t constantly changing there ‘dos? Seriously, hair envy is real and in 2015 there were a LOT of stars that slayed the hair game (we’re looking at you Jennifer Lawrence) so we had to pay homage to these fabulous hair transformations. Sure, 2014 was full of celebs who had killer hair changes, but 2015 has blown them out of the water.

Some stars change their locks post breakup, while others change their color with the seasons. No matter why these stars do what they do with their ‘do, we love them for having the guts to switch it up. To see which ladies and a few gents made the most iconic, ballsy and totally fabulous hair changes this year scroll through our gallery bellow. Take notes because you too may be able to rock these hairstyles.

Adele

Adele is a very mysterious celebrity. After keeping a low profile for a while, the British singer emerged in fall 2015 and released a new album, 25 and she has been rocking the music world ever since. While performing on The X Factor UK in December, she also donned a new ‘do. The short bob looks classic and chic, just like Adele. Is there anything she can’t do?

Emma Watson

The Harry Potter actress is known for her iconic style and fashion sense, and her ability to rock any hairstyle definitely fits into that persona. Although we’ve seen Emma with short locks before, she has had longer hair for the past year. In December 2015, Emma attended a screening for The True Cost and showed off her short and wavy hair, which was totally unexpected. Of coarse Emma looked flawless as usual.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie loves to change her hair color. Throughout 2015, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians has had a LOT of hairstyle transformations, but her most iconic was when she went from her usual long, black locks to a blue hue in July 2015. “I just wanted to do something different and fun, and I haven’t switched it up in [a while] so… I’m just having fun,” Kylie told E! News at the Bellami Beauty Bar in West Hollywood about her icy blue hair. “It took a while, so it’s kind of crazy, but it’s fun.”

Sarah Hyland

When Sarah debuted her new shorter locks in March 2015 it was a complete shock to Modern Family fans who were used to seeing her character with long hair. After sporting long, brown hair for most of her career, Sarah began switching it up by going blonde, but the big shocker was when she chopped off her hair and rocked the bob. A week after she initially cut her hair she went even shorter at the Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards in late March. “I feel so liberated,” the 25-year-old actress told InStyle at H&M’s Coachella party in April. “I thought I was being unique, but then everyone else did it too.” Even though short hair was a HUGE trend in 2015, Sarah made her ‘do a standout look at all times.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer’s performance in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 isn’t the only show-stopping thing J.Law has done in 2015. As her Hunger Games career was winding down and she was promoting the last film, Jen debuted a shorter, blonder hairstyle and she slayed the fashion world instantly. Her new lob is platinum and fabulous, which perfectly matches her personality. It was the best move for her hair wise and with it she continually gives us hair envy.

Justin Bieber

The Biebs is known for his signature hairstyles. When he first came onto the music scene he had every guy, okay not every guy, but a lot of guys trying to master the hair flip, like he did. In 2015 his hair changed even more drastically than fans could’ve imagined. He went from a clean cut look to blonder and wilder. At the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards he debuted his new hair, which was a mix between a crazy lama ‘do and Kate Gosselin, but for some reason it totally worked. Now JB is rocking the overgrown hair with a more platinum color and yes, he is killing it.

Hilary Duff

The former Lizzie McGuire actress channeled her inner mermaid in 2015 with her hair change and it was crazy, but awesome. After feeling like she needed a change, Hilary opted for a teal color that totally worked. “I don’t have a good reason for why my hair is blue,” Hilary told MTV News “I just felt a little wild and I was in Mexico on vacation and I was like, ‘I want to dye my hair a crazy color,’ and I came home the next day and did it. It felt really good.” Hilary showed off her bold color in April at the premiere of her TV Land show Younger and it was definitely a showstopper.

Clare Bowen

After Clare debuted her dramatic haircut in November, she took to Facebook to explain why she cut off her famous long, wavy trestles. The Nashville star is actually a cancer survivor, having beat cancer when she was a child so after hearing that a young cancer patient didn’t think she could be a princess because she didn’t have long hair, Clare chopped her hair off to make a point. “I wanted her, and others like her, to know that’s not what makes a princess, or a warrior, or a superhero,” Clare wrote. “It’s your insides that count… even if you happen to be missing half of them.” Not only is her story inspiring, but Clare looks stunning with her pixie cut.

Ellie Goulding

The “Love Me Like You Do” singer has always had long, blonde hair with occasional side bangs, but in March she altered her ‘do and it blew everyone’s mind. At the Brit Awards (in February) she donned her normal pretty locks, but a few weeks later she proved that she really can rock any look. Her new bob was and still is fierce and chic. All she had to say about her new cut at the time was, “HAI HAIR CUT,” Hai indeed!

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley is a nature brunette, who has been sporting blonde locks for as long as we can remember, but at the end of summer, she totally switched up her hair for the better. The Clipped actress decided on a “strawberry bronde” color and it is fabulous. Since her first touch of red coloring, Ash has already gone redder and it continues to look great. “I’m obsessed with this shade and am totally digging it. Maybe too much,” Ashley wrote on her blog The Haute Mess in August after debuting her new color. “I’ve only been a strawberry bronde for a while, but already want to go redder.”

Zayn Malik

Once Zayn left One Direction he needed a fresh start, so he opted for a hair change. Sure he buzzed his hair in April 2015, which looked good, and tried a green color for a little while, but when he dyed what little hair he had blond in June he looked sexy and like he was ready for the solo career he was going to begin post 1D. A source told Hollywood Life all about Zayn’s hair transformation saying, “Zayn decided to shave his head as a cleansing ritual after all he’s been through. He felt it signified a fresh start, and again distances him from his boy band days when he had foppish hair.”

Lily Collins

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones actress is a chameleon when it comes to hairstyles. In summer 2014 she cut her hair and began rocking a wavy, bob look, but she wasn’t done cutting her locks quite yet. In early 2015 (she first showed off her shorter ‘do in February 2015), Lily chopped even more hair off and created a shaggy pixie look. At the 2015 Met Gala she slicked down her pixie cut and she managed to look even more modern and trendy if that’s even possible. “Yes… I chopped it! #shortandlovingit…” Lily wrote on her Instagram account after she cut her bob to a pixie.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa loves to play with the length of her hair and during 2015 she’s chopped it short and then added inches of extensions to achieve a long and gorgeous look. After rocking a bob for months, in July, the Spring Breakers star unveiled her mermaid looking hair, which went all the way to her belly button. After posting a photo of her new ‘do it was clear that she was channeling her inner Pocahontas and as usual her locks were flawless. “I change my hair with the seasons. I gotta do something different,” Vanessa told People in the past. “And I’m just an extremist. I either need short hair or long hair. There’s no in between for me.”

Kate Mara

The Fantastic Four star already has gorgeous hair, so when she initially chopped her hair into a bob we were big fans. In summer 2015 she did her initial chop, but a few months later she made the biggest hair transformation of all — a boyish pixie cut! After donning her fresh cut, which is SO chic, Kate went on Live With Kelly and Michael in August and revealed that the only person who wasn’t a big fan of her hair switch was her dad, but she loves it. “I don’t have to wash it now, I don’t have to brush it. I love it,” the 32-year-old star told the show’s hosts. You go girl.

Kaley Cuoco

The Big Bang Theory actress was all about switching up her look in 2015. She not only cut her signature long, blonde hair in early 2015, but she took it a step further by spicing up her color. Just when everyone was getting used to Kaley’s short ‘do, she added a touch of pink to her usual blonde locks and it was glorious. “Have wanted to do this for years! Finally went pretty in pink!” Kaley wrote on Instagram in May when she revealed her new pastel pink hue. It is the perfect mix of fierceness and feminine.
